I’ve lived in Washington for more than twenty years now. I don’t recall seeing this thing until about five years ago. Now I see it all over the place. Does anyone know what it is?

Hi! I don’t know the name, but this thing grows in Estonia! Seen it today by my own eyes!
You know what they say: a plant growing in the wrong place is a weed. The reverse is true. This weed is harmless easy to pull out, and not bad looking. I leave it to grow in my garden in California- until it loses its color.

Wow! Who would have thought?
I did notice that these weeds didn’t do as well this year. I don’t think they liked the heat wave! 🙂
This is Lamium purpureum (red deadnettle). It is a common annual weed.
Richard – Thanks so much for solving the mystery!
