Our New House
We’ve been looking for a new house for years. We’d like a few acres in the country with a water view. The problem is that it’s usually a choice between having a few acres or living in a small lot with a water view.
We really would like to have both. Since we haven’t found anything that we like (that we can afford) we’re looking at the problem in a new way. We’re thinking about having a house built. Right now it seems like an almost overwhelming task. Having a house built means that we’ll be dealing with putting in sewer and water lines. We’ll have to find a builder and maybe an architect. Will it even be affordable? We don’t know yet but we’re going to check it out.
Was the sewer/water comment just an example? If not, that would be next to no worry at all. First off, it would really be a water/septic problem, or even a well/septic problem. With housing prices dropping, now is the best time in the past 2 years to look. How ever your doing that, kick it up a notch and look deeper! Remodeling is alot easier to get your mind around vs. building from scratch.
Ralph,
Yep, that was just an example. There’s also clearing the land, getting in power and all the rest.
I like your attitude about this. Maybe it’s not that hard. It’s just something I haven’t done before.
Another thought I had is that maybe it’s good this is taking so long. As you said the prices are dropping so maybe it will work to our advantage.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Marsha
