My Camera the Battery Hog
At the start of the year I got a digital camera for the blog. It’s what I use for most of the photos here at BeetleEyes. I love the camera but it’s a battery hog. I was running through a set of AA batteries every week. It was getting expensive so I started looking for a battery charger.
I was such a novice that I didn’t realize a battery charger required specialized, rechargeable batteries. In other words I had to buy special batteries and a charger.
I found this spiffy system at Amazon.com – Kodak 6 AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries & Overnight AA/AAA Charger. It comes with 6 AA batteries and an overnight battery charger. The batteries are 100 mAH (Milliamp Hour) and they last much longer than the standard batteries I’d been using.
Then the batteries are used up you put them in the charger and plug the unit into the wall. Lights on the charger indicate when the batteries are being charged and when the process is complete.
I keep two batteries in my camera, two in my radio and two charged and ready to act as replacements. With all the money I’m saving on batteries this system will soon pay for itself.
