Living on a Budget – Warehouse Stores
The Man of the House went to Costco yesterday and I’m going to Sam’s later today. Then we’ll be stocked up for the month.
For us part of being self-sufficient is being able to live on the income that we make while working from home. That means we’ve got a budget and we’re sticking to it. (We’re trying anyway.) Buying groceries in bulk is one of the things that keeps us on track.
Once a month TMOTH goes to Costco while I usually make two Sam’s runs a month. Some things can be purchased at only one of the two stores. For instance we love Costco’s Kirkland Signature coffee beans. (Kirkland Signature is Costco’s house brand.) It’s great coffee and you can’t beat the price. Sam’s carries our preferred brands of bacon and raisins so we get those there.
Most of the items on our grocery list can be purchased at either store. Using two warehouse stores means that if one place is out of an item we can buy what we need at the other.
End of the month meal planning can be a challenge as we try to stick to the budget and live with what we’ve got on hand. But today is the first of the month and the larder is gloriously full!
